This weekend was a lot of fun. Friday night me, Tania, Daniela, Laura, and Tania's cousin went to see Bob Sinclar DJ at a club. It was pretty crazy and we didn't get home and to bed until around 5am.
At 8am we had to leave for the metro to get downtown and catch the IES bus to Figueres. Figueres is the town that Salvador Dalí lived and painted in. He designed his own museum which is a work of art in itself. All of his artwork has multiple interpretations and alternative images within them. For example one of the paintings which just looked like colorful blocks and the backside of a nude woman, when looked at through a camera lens was really a portrait of Abe Lincoln. Crazy stuff...
Then we traveled to Cadaqués another town along Costa Brava (a region North of Barcelona). The drive was absolutely beautiful and took us on winding roads through the mountains with views of the Mediterranean along every bend in the road. There were ruins of old farms and vineyards that had sculpted the landscape into multi-layered terraces in order to plant.
The town itself is an old fishing village full of white stucco buildings. The beach was not sandy but full of pebbles. It was beautiful - like what I'd imagine Greece to look like. There were street venders selling artisan bread and pasteries everywhere. But the wind is said to "drive people mad."
Once our day trip was over, we returned to Barcelona.
On Sunday me, Daniela, Saran, Tania, and Laura drove up to Laura's beach house. The beach was great - it was little and not as populated as the beaches in Barcelona. Me, Saran, and Daniela ventured into the cold Mediterranean water and had a blast. Then we went up to the house and Laura had ordered some take-out paella from a local restaurant. It was fantastic! She and some of her other neighbors share a pool so for the rest of the day we just hung out there.
Today...unfortunately I had class...haha. But then afterwards me, Daniela, Tania, and Saran went to Parc Montjuic which is the largest park in Barcelona. The views from the park are breathtaking because it is situated on a "mountain." There's an amazing palace which is now a museum called MNAC that is beyond belief. The park is heavily wooded and has beautiful ivy and flowers everywhere. It was also the site of the Olympics so we saw the torch monument and the stadium. I definitely want to go back and explore some more....maybe tomorrow.
Alright well I have to do some homework and get to sleep. Love you. Miss you. Talk to you soon.

XOXO
Danielle
